Grounds and Garden

Within the grounds of Cringletie House you will find a real waterfall, a historic and listed dovecote, a croquet lawn and even a pitch and putt.  The 16th century walled garden is amongst the oldest in Scotland and contains not only a fully functioning Victorian glasshouse, but one can also play a game of outdoor chess and draughts and even petanque (jeu de boules).

Woodlands

There are several acres of woodlands on the estate and they are being maintained to the highest standard. Every tree that had to be removed is being replaced by many new plants, so that the woods will remain attractive now and well into the future. Obviously, they are bustling with wildlife.

Walled Garden

The Walled Garden has been restored to its old glory. The centerpiece is the 400 year old Yew Hedge, that remains as impressive as ever. Maintaining and restoring its wonderful shape is a longlasting affair.

Recently a variety of cut flowers was planted to seasonally supply the hotel with fresh flowers.  Apart from that purpose, they are beautiful to look at!

A large part of the Walled Garden is dedicated to the growing of fruit and vegetables. We grow primarily special vegetables, that are not so easy to get from our day to day suppliers. Examples are asparagus, artichokes, purple broccoli etc.
A wealth of hard and soft fruit is harvested every year from our fruit trees and our fruit cage.
A whole sector of the Walled Garden is dedicated to outdoor games. Chess, Draughts and Petanque (Jeu de Boules).
