Glorious Golf

The Scottish Borders make the perfect setting for golf. An area previously recognised for its holiday 9 hole courses has flourished and now boasts a host of outstanding 18 hole golf courses.

Peebles Golf Club is on our door-step but with a further 21 unique 9 and 18 hole courses nearby, the choice is yours.

Here are some of our favourites:

Peebles Golf Club

Although Peebles Golf Club is a members' club, visitors are made very welcome. It's one of the most picturesque courses in the Borders, set high above the beautiful Tweed Valley. Founded in 1892 although the present course was first opened in 1908. The original course on the South West boundary of the town can still be seen, in outline, for those interested in golfing history. The present Kirklands course (6,138 yards, par 70) was remodelled in 1933/34 by Harry Colt, designer of, many great courses; among them Wentworth, the New course at Sunningdale, Stoke Poges, the Eden Course at St. Andrews, Royal Portrush, some holes at Hoylake and Pine Valley, Philadelphia.

Peebles is a championship course, having played host in the past to the Scottish Girls Strokeplay Championship, and Scottish Boys Team Championship; and in 2006 hosted the Scottish Girls Amateur Championship.

The course is considered one of the finest in the Borders for the quality of its turf, greens and the stunning views. It is a prime example of a challenging Scottish upland golf course. Peebles Golf Club has also been awarded an Environmental Excellence Award from the Golf Environment Group initiative, one of only 30 in Europe.

West Linton Golf Club

West Linton Golf Club is an outstanding, 18-hole, moorland course situated on Slipperfield Moor above the conservation village of West Linton, Scotland. The course features wonderful views of the Scottish border country and is dominated by Mendick Hill to the southwest. We are a friendly club, welcoming both members and visitors and we look forward to welcoming you for a round soon moorland course with panoramic views to the Pentland Hills and Southern Uplands.

Innerleithen Golf Club

The Innerleithen Golf Club is a very pleasant 9 hole flat course in the Leithen Valley.
