The Trail has its origins in a project undertaken for the Royal Highland Show in 2015 by pupils of the Eddleston Primary School and was developed in association with the school. Renowned horticulturist Jim McKay led a group of specialists in the development of the Trail, with sponsor support.
A walk of approximately one mile, the Trail commences near the hotel’s main entry, passing through woodlands it goes on to effectively circle the estate. Historical elements of the estate are depicted along the way.
The Trail was officially opened in October 2019 by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Tweeddale, Professor Sir Hew Strachan FBA FRSE.
