We are proud to be ranked as Number 1 of 6 hotels in Peebles with TripAdvisor. But we were thrilled to be named amongst the Best of the Best 2024.
The Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel. It’s awarded to those who receive a high volume of above and beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone.
Our reviews consistently highlight our tranquil location and commanding views, our exceptional service, luxury rooms, the warmth of our welcome, the personal attention and our delicious food. Indeed, we would like to wholeheartedly thank our guests for taking the time to provide such generous and personal feedback. Not only does this inform other guests and travellers about the quality of the Cringletie experience but it provides the whole team with invaluable feedback and recognition of their hard work too.
But of course, you say it Best! Here are just some of the lovely reviews we have received this spring and summer.
Best Sunday lunch ever!
My husband and I came for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago and had the best experience. All the staff from Callum at the reception, the restaurant staff (especially the lovely French gentleman - sorry didn’t get his name) and the chef were all very professional and welcoming. The food was outstanding. Loved having it carved at the table. We will definitely be back. Thanks again!
Elegant and relaxing stay made even better by warm, helpful staff...
My daughter and I stayed at Cringletie with a group of friends while in the area to ride horses, and we have all agreed that our stay at Cringletie was an absolute delight worthy of a return visit. We enjoyed our lovely room, walks around the walled garden and nearby trails, sitting each afternoon in one of the lovely bars or sitting rooms, a nice cup of tea from the coffee and tea service in the room and a fine breakfast each morning in the dining room. Our final evening, we enjoyed the 7 course meal in the dining room and found the menu to be both creative and delicious. I have heard more than one of our friends saying they would like to return for a stay in the colder months. We can only imagine how lovely it would be at Christmas time.
A Great Find...
Delightful hotel. Great lunch and lovely staff. Very spacious and pleasant dining room. The dogs enjoyed walking in the beautiful grounds. A genuine dog friendly hotel as opposed to dog tolerant as many are. Hope to return soon for a longer visit.
Second Visit of Hopefully Many More...
Mr. Cross was the only owner/manager to have a presence and attempt any communication with guests at the many hotels we've stayed at. Beyond a lovely handwritten note (a fantastic touch) in the room, he also came to speak to us during dinner and greeted us on a morning walk on the lawns...even greeting my husband by name.
The dinner staff maintains the decorum one expects of the calibre of meal service offered. The young man who handled the bar and portions of our table service was pleasant and you could tell they were all actively taking care to provide refined service. The food was delightful as always. We have yet to finish all courses in the tasting menu (we had to throw in the towel last time, too!) but only because each course was so good that we ate every bite. The food was refined and delicious and, I believe, and was among the very best of every restaurant we dined at, regardless of how many rosettes they boasted
The artwork sprinkled in the house is great. Not only does it promote and support local artists but it is so much more authentic and aesthetic than looking at countless mass reproduction posters that have been slapped in a frame. We even ended up purchasing a piece to take home, right from the comfort of the bar.
Having the walled garden also adds a nice touch and extends the experience to the outside. It is lovely to walk through it and have some peace.
The next time we are in Scotland, we are certain to stay again. I'd love to do so in the cooler months when the hygge of the fireplaces is in full effect.
That said, Cringletie is exceptional and I hope it continues to be - we would like to return again soon. Thank you to everyone involved in the venture and see you soon.
Amazing experience...
Staying at Cringletie made our entire Scotland trip! The grounds were beautiful, and the room was comfortable with cozy touches and turndown service. The staff really set this property apart- they were so friendly and helpful. Truly the best. Don’t miss the dinner here, it was our favourite for the trip!
Another fabulous stay...
Another fantastic stay at one of our favourite hotels. We live less than 20 miles away but go to the hotel 2 or 3 times a year. The staff are very friendly but professional (special mention to Liam), the rooms are very comfortable and the food exceptional. The 7 course dinner menu is a triumph and the calm and tranquil setting just adds to the stay.
Another wonderful stay...
Another wonderful stay at our favourite hotel. This time we were celebrating my wife’s birthday and as usual we received such a high standard of comfort, cuisine, service etc. We highly recommend Cringletie. Congratulations and thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. Looking forward to our next stay.
Worth every penny...
This hotel oozes quality of service. Where's do you still get an evening turn-down service with a chocolate on your pillow, miraculously even when 'do not disturb' on the first attempt?! And the dining is exceptional and well judged. All of this comes at a price, but the point is that it is absolutely worth every penny.
Real treat in a lovely house in amazing surroundings...
Real treat. We stayed at the Cringletie on the Sunday Taster Package in a Classic Room. 7 courses with paired wines were absolutely delicious. Room was lovely too. Staff were attentive and professional. We would recommend a visit to this little gem of a place in the Scottish Borders.
Incredible!
I hardly need to write a view for this hotel, as all the other reviews are so amazing! Well what a wonderful experience it is, visiting Cringletie! We booked a table for lunch (I think they like you to book a table rather than just turn up) and were seated in the beautiful downstairs bar as we had a wee dog. There were tiny flowers on our table and a huge picture window overlooking the lawns, low hill and daffodils. The lunch was absolutely incredible - best beef burger we had ever had, all home made and with beef from local cows. A beautiful pea risotto and the best ever coronation chicken sandwhich - we have never had a lunch like it with such amazing flavours! There was a huge bunch of fresh lilies in the hall and even fresh flowers in the bathroom! The grounds are incredible in the spring with so many types of daffodils along a sweet little stream. There were also sweet little lambs in an adjoining field. You can play croquet or pitch and put golf too! I would really recommend a visit. The restaurant upstairs is absolutely beautiful. Lunch time prices are very fair - pretty average or perhaps the teeniest weeniest margin above average prices but worth an extra pound considering you could really spend almost a whole afternoon here if you wander around the grounds and sit on a bench in the sunshine.... From the hotel grounds there are views over to bigger hills in the distance. We can't wait to come back - thank you!
